In the opening of Scott's act he causes a silk handkerchief to appear and disappear in his hand.  You can do the very same thing.  A small silk handkerchief vanishes in the magician's hands without leaving any trace of it. The opposite effect is also possible: after you have shown your bare hands, you let the handkerchief appear.
